Why does God rise up?
The Hebrew word for rise up is, Amad [Strong H5975]
Yet the Lord longs to be gracious to you; therefore he will rise up to show you compassion. For the Lord is a God of justice. Blessed are all who wait for him!
Isaiah 30:18 NIV
So God rises up to bring His people compassion and justice. His people have waited for Him to act and He has longed to do so, but God’s timing is not ours. When the time is right, He will rise up and bring justice.
The King James version gives a slightly different feel.
And therefore will the Lord wait, that he may be gracious unto you, and therefore will he be exalted, that he may have mercy upon you: for the Lord is a God of judgment: blessed are all they that wait for him.
Isaiah 30:18 KJV
The Lord is waiting to bring grace and mercy. He does this at the time of judgement—bringing justice—punishment for His enemies and grace to His people.
Let God arise, let his enemies be scattered: let them also that hate him flee before him.
Psalm 68:1, KJV
God standeth in the congregation of the mighty; he judgeth among the gods.”
Psalm 82:1
Arise, O God, judge the earth: for thou shalt inherit all nations.
Psalm 82:8
The LORD standeth up to plead, and standeth to judge the people.
Isaiah 3:13, KJV
